Fans ready for NCIS: Sydney season 2 to premiere have some bad news. The premiere will no longer air tonight, Friday, Jan. 31.

When the January return dates were set, fans of the Australian-set NCIS spin-off were ready for the end of the month. Friday nights would bring a whole night of drama, starting with the series.

Then CBS changed things a little last minute. Now we know why, and we know when the episode will now air.

What on CBS tonight?

Instead of the NCIS: Sydney season 2 premiere, fans will be treated to a special. It’s a look inside the 67th Grammy Awards. This does seem like an odd decision. While the Grammys will air on Sunday, Feb. 2, it’s one of those events that is pretty standard for this time of the year.

When CBS initially announced that there would be a special on, we expected something focused on the LA fires. After all, there’s a benefit concert that aired across the streamers last night, so many expected to see some sort of special focused on that.

CBS knew the Grammys were happening this weekend back when the January returns were set. Why bother setting the NCIS: Sydney premiere and then change it at the last minute?

When will NCIS: Sydney season 2 premiere?

The premiere episode will now air the following week. We’ll get the new episode on Friday, Feb. 7. It will still start Friday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Titled “Heart Starter,” the episode will see a classic case of a rogue assassin. The team will need to track this killer down, while Special Agent DeShawn Jackson deals with a case of first day struggles. DeShawn has been a great team member throughout the first season, so it will be interesting to see how it all plays out with him in charge. How long will it last?

NCIS: Sydney season 2 premieres on Friday, Feb. 7 at 8/7c on CBS.
