There’s a chance to the CBS schedule tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 16. Make sure you get ready for NCIS: Sydney season 3 episode 9, as it will air earlier than usual.
While NCIS and NCIS: Sydney have their fall finales tonight, NCIS: Origins doesn’t. That series aired its impactful fall finale on Tuesday, Dec. 9, likely due to the show having fewer episodes than the other two. So, that means a small change to the lineup as we close out the year of new episodes.

What time is NCIS: Sydney season 3 episode 9 on CBS?
Rather than waiting until the very end of the night, NCIS: Sydney season 3 episode 9 will air at 9 p.m. ET/PT tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 16. This pulls it forward into the Origins timeslot, which will air a rerun in the regular Sydney timeslot.
It makes sense for CBS to do this, even if it is a little confusing. Airing a new episode, then a rerun, and then a new episode is off-putting. Those who watch all three in a row may think that only NCIS is new and then won’t return for Sydney.
You can watch the show in the regular way you would via your cable network or through something like YouTube TV and Fubo TV. If you’re a Paramount+ subscriber, you may have access to live viewings through that, but if you don’t, NCIS: Sydney season 3 episode 9 will be added on Wednesday, Dec. 17 at the usual time of 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT.
What to expect on NCIS: Sydney season 3 episode 9
The NCIS: Sydney season 3 fall finale brings an intense case that could involve a biohazard leaking out. The team won’t be sticking around in Australia, either. They have to go to an Antarctic research base, where a climate scientist has been killed by his own colleague.
The events happen on Polar Night Eve, and if the team doesn’t solve the case in time, they could end up trapped at the research base for the next six months. Oh, and if they end up trapped, they’ll be stuck in darkness for the next six months. Why trapped? Well, their plane will freeze if they remain for too long.
No pressure!
The team races to an Antarctica research base to investigate why a climate scientist killed a colleague on Polar Night Eve – and make it out before their plane engine freezes and they’re trapped in darkness for six months.
NCIS: Sydney will go on a break after this episode, just like the other CBS shows. However, we have to wait until February 2026 for the new episodes to return, as CBS has opted not to bring anything back until after the Winter Olympics.
NCIS: Sydney will return on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 10/9c on CBS.
