Chicago PD certainly brought us a fun and intriguing case for Kevin Atwater — and it finally wasn’t gang related! We’re ready to see what’s next for him and the rest of Intelligence, but for that to happen, we need a new episode.
There is some bad news tonight, Wednesday, April 9. There isn’t a new episode of Chicago PD, but NBC isn’t leaving us completely without Intelligence. We will get a rerun tonight, and it’s going back to Officer Cook finally getting to be part of Intelligence. After initially meeting her in the second episode of the series, she comes back up with a case that involves her backstory initially being revealed and Voight wanting her on the case.
Why isn’t a new episode of Chicago PD on tonight?
NBC is at the point in the TV season when it needs to put reruns on now and then. With finales not set to air until mid-May, the remaining episodes need to be stretched out, and there aren’t that many episodes left to this season. There are five to be exact!
There may be one more break to come, but it’s not entirely clear at this point. NBC hasn’t openly set the finale dates for its shows like CBS did.
When will Chicago PD return with new episodes?
So, how long is this break going to be? We’re looking at just a week. The promo for the new episode made it clear that the series would be back on Wednesday, April 16. The entire One Chicago lineup will be back that night.
Voight and Intelligence will need to deal with Reid once more in the new episode. A car is stolen, and it happens to have drugs in it. Reid needs that car back, and he needs Intelligence to find a way to get it. The team will need to get creative, or Reid can come after them in other ways.
