Is there a new episode of Law & Order on tonight? (March 6, 2025)

Law & Order is taking a short break on NBC tonight, and here's why.

Thursday nights are all about crime dramas on NBC. What’s going on with the Law & Order schedule tonight, Thursday, March 6?

The previous episode put the law and the order sides against each other. In the end, Baxter had to figure out a way to get some sort of justice, but he had to admit the failings in the system as a whole. Price and Shaw ended up facing off against each other, with Price threatening to go after Shaw for what he did.

The episode brought up a great debate about privilege and drugs. It brought up a good debate about doing the right thing for our vets, and when drugs are therapy or a problem. In the end, the episode made it clear that there are grey areas everywhere.

There isn’t a new episode of Law & Order tonight

There’s some disappointing news for tonight, though. There isn’t going to be a new episode of Law & Order on NBC tonight, Thursday, March 6. The entire Thursday night lineup is taking a short break.

There will be a rerun, though. We’re heading back to the third episode, which saw Riley’s brother come into the story. Riley’s brother is connected to a murder investigation, and now Riley needs to choose between familial love and his job.

What’s the deal with this break? I’d say it comes down to scheduling. There are only so many episodes to stretch across the weeks to get to May for finale season. NBC knows that by bringing back the shows in early to mid-January, it needs to put breaks in the schedule now and then. It’s annoying but necessary if people want their shows back early!

When will Law & Order return with new episodes?

The series will return on Thursday, March 13. Baxter has a surprise confession to Price. He’s dating the defense attorney, and it turns out that defense attorney has threatened the eye witness for Price and Maroun.

Baxter will need to recuse himself during the trial, allowing Price to take over completely. Otherwise, it’s a conflict of interest and it will have everything thrown out. Of course, Baxter will still want updates. We’ll get to continue to see how the two men struggle to see eye-to-eye on situations, which has created an interesting dynamic in the “order” side of Law & Order.

Check out the promo and synopsis for Law & Order season 24, episode 15:

"When an up-and-coming politician is found dead, Shaw and Riley untangle the victim's personal life to identify a suspect; Baxter recuses himself to help Price make the case."

Law & Order airs on Thursdays at 8/7c on NBC. Catch up the following day on Peacock.
