It’s Tuesday night, and that means we’re ready for a new episode of Will Trent. So, what’s going on with the ABC schedule?
There isn’t a new episode of the series on tonight, Tuesday, March 4. Yes, ABC did tell us that we’d have a more consistent schedule with a midseason premiere, but it didn’t promise no breaks at all. This break is necessary due to politics.
Why isn’t a new episode of Will Trent on tonight?
The President will address Congress tonight, Tuesday, March 4. That means every big broadcast network is airing a news special. The networks can’t air two things at once, so the night of new dramas is pre-empted across the majority of networks. There are a few non-scripted shows happening across a few networks to start the night.
As the address doesn’t start until 9/8c, we will get an hour of semi-normal ABC programming. There will be a rerun of Will Trent tonight, and we’re heading back to the Faith-central episode of the season. This was such a change of pace that it had us excited from start to end. We got to know more about Faith and saw her work a personal case and just not stop. Will stepped back to allow Faith to remain in charge, and I loved seeing the two working together.

When is Will Trent back with new episodes?
This break isn’t a long one. As ABC told us in the promo for the next episode, Will Trent season 3, episode 9 will air on Tuesday, March 11. We’ll see the majority of dramas across all networks return on the same night, making it clear that the break is purely due to politics.
Will Trent’s new episode will see Will and Faith work a high-profile case. A famous rapper has been murdered, and now everyone wants to know what happened. If you look at any celebrity deaths in real life, there’s always this need for people to find out the truth right away. Law & Order just had an episode covering a similar type of pressure.
