New episodes of 911 are being pulled from the ABC schedule — and here's when

February won't be as exciting for 911 fans, as new episodes are being pulled from ABC's schedule. Find out what we know and when a new episode might air.

A brand new episode of 911 season 9 is set to air on Thursday, Jan. 29, and as excited as fans are, there is some bad news. After this episode, there won’t be a new episode the following week, or most of February, for that matter.

911 is about to head on a break for an expected reason: the Winter Olympics. While ABC won't air the Games, it doesn't make sense to go up against NBC for the linear ratings. Most scripted shows are likely to lose.

Meanwhile, a new AI call center assistant, meant to help, has begun to create more complications, and the 118 must intervene. THURSDAY, JAN. 15 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EST) on ABC. When is 911 coming back with new episodes on ABC?

Unfortunately, though, with the break in the schedule, this means we will likely have to get through almost the entire month of February without a new episode. There’s no indication of when a new episode will air, but we do know that Thursday, Feb. 5 will have three episodes of 911 airing as reruns.

The following two weeks, television will be on a break while the Winter Olympics air from Friday, Feb. 6 to Sunday, Feb. 22. Network shows are scheduled to return immediately, except for Tuesday, Feb. 24 due to the State of the Union address. However, this shouldn’t affect 911, which airs on Thursdays.

The return date has officially been confirmed. We will confirm when the next new episode will air once ABC releases the rest of their schedule.

This likely will not be the only break 911 has, since the show still needs to make it through May for season finales start airing. But for now, we just have to make it through this stretch between episodes.

What to expect on 911 season 9 episode 10

The final episode for January 2026, titled “Handle with Care,” will follow Harry Grant (Elijah M. Cooper) for his first shift as a probie with the 118. From the looks of it, he will have to get used to interacting with the people he grew up with now that they are his colleagues. This may also have an air of difficulty for Chimney Han (Kenny Choi), who is now the captain and may feel a sense of responsibility to keep the late Bobby Nash’s stepson safe on the job.

Plus, the episode synopsis detailed that Hen Wilson (Aisha Hinds) and Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman) would be heading to court due to a case that would bring up old demons. Speculation so far is that it could involve the case from season 9, episode 5, when they rescued a girl being kept prisoner under the eye of a religious cult. How things play out remains to be seen, especially since the episode trailer has not indicated what fans can expect.

One idea is that the religious aspect could play into Eddie’s storyline, since he has been struggling with the idea of going back to religion. If the episode is about the case from episode 5, this is also when he lost his Abuela, so that could bring up memories for him as well.

Hen has also been struggling with working through her new diagnosis, so the case could also cause her to think about what her next steps are, especially if she is trying to get back to work. We don’t know yet what her future looks like with the 118, but she seemed determined to fight through it once she got through the darkness surrounding her illness.

911 airs Thursdays on ABC at 8/7c. New episodes are available the next day on Hulu.
