Alec Mercer found out that someone was stalking him at the end of The Irrational season 2. Where could that story have gone?
One of the annoying things about cancellations is that they usually happen on a cliffhanger. That was certainly the case with The Irrational, which was canceled just over a month after the season 2 finale aired on NBC. That’s left us with a lot of questions about what could happened for the characters, and right now, we’re focusing on Alec Mercer.
Alec would focus on the stalker in The Irrational season 3
There’s no doubt that one of the first storylines we’d focus on in The Irrational season 3 would be the stalker. Alec knows that someone has been watching him for some time. The fact that this person has sent photos means that they want to be known now, and they’ll probably want something.
I get the sense that Alec won’t be too scared for himself just yet. He’ll be curious about what the behavior means, and it’s sure to be a learning opportunity for those around him. It’s only if this grows into something bigger that he’s going to start getting worried, especially if people close to him end up getting hurt.
One of the benefits for Alec is that he has Rose. She has just opened her own agency in town, and she made it clear in The Irrational season 2 finale that she views Alec as her first client. She isn’t letting this stalker get away with things.
Could Alec pop the question in The Irrational season 3?
Throughout the second season, Alec and Rose got closer. They had moments where it felt like they would break up because Rose pulled away from him, but in the end, she realized that she didn’t want to give up the man she was falling for. Plus, Alec didn’t mind that Rose had a dark past that was dangerous.
I could have seen The Irrational season 3 ending with Alec proposing to Rose. If not a full proposal, I could have seen a conversation about them moving in together. They didn’t have that conversation as Rose shared that she had opened her own agency in town, and it doesn’t make sense for them to live together right away. After all, Rose had spent many months away from Alec while on various cases.
This is their chance to be a real couple. They are around each other more, and it’s a true test of their compatibility.
