The end of FBI season 7 was rough. Not only did the team have to work under the cover of darkness to deal with an in-house terrorist threat, but they ended the episode with one of their own collapsing. Isobel really should have been checked out medically after she was hit by the blast during the episode.
At the very end of FBI season 7, Isobel was giving a speech about how much she respected the team. While she was scared about what the next threat could be, she knew that working with the current group is everything she needs. Many of them worked with her to take down the threat, even though they knew they were working against the law at the time.
Then she started to struggle speaking, and she suddenly collapsed. Jubal checked for a pulse, but there wasn’t one, and it left everyone scrambling for help.

Can we assume Isobel will survive in FBI season 8?
It’s best not to assume anything going into FBI season 8. While Alana de la Garza hasn’t announced that she’s leaving the series, this doesn’t mean that she won’t. After all, she may not want to announce she’s leaving as a way to leave speculation around her character’s fate. However, with the lack of announcement, we can look at a more positive side and say that Isobel will survive.
That will mean recovery, and based on what likely made her collapse, it could be a long recovery. What we will get to see is time with her husband, who will be able to help her through the recovery process. Maybe that could open a door for her to discuss retirement, creating an opportunity for Jubal to gain a promotion.

What could Isobel’s recovery look like in FBI?
Then there are questions about the recovery process. It could be as simple as needing a bit of time off to recover from some sort of surgery needed, as the blast likely caused a clot and that’s what made her collapse.
However, there is a change that her injury from the blast was more severe. This could mean a much longer recovery process, leading to Jubal leading for a little while longer.
On top of that, there’s the mental work that this recovery process will take. She may be afraid that she won’t fully recover, or she may think more about the attack that happened and the fear could creep in that way. Rather than fear, there could be anger, pushing her to recover faster so that she can get back to work and become fixated on Forefront and need to take them down.
There is a lot more value in saving Isobel and creating storylines after that in FBI season 8 rather than killing her off.
FBI season 8 will air on Mondays at 9/8c on CBS in fall 2025.
