There is some bad news for those who want more of the thriller We Were Liars. Despite Prime Video having a habit now of releasing content on a weekly basis, that’s not the case for this YA adaptation. There are not more new episodes this week.
We Were Liars dropped on Wednesday, June 18. Like other Prime Video shows, the release happened at 3 a.m. ET/12 p.m. PT, and it was a thrilling binge-watch as we figured out what happened to Cady during Summer Sixteen.
Why are there no new episodes of We Were Liars this week?
As mentioned, We Were Liars was released as a binge-watch. All eight episodes dropped at once, and you can watch them at your own pace. I do always recommend binging an Amazon series at once if you can, because this tells Amazon that you want more to the series. Try to finish it by tonight if possible.
Amazon does have a habit of releasing shows on a weekly basis, so it’s normal to feel a little confused right now. It’s not clear why Amazon opted for the binge-watch for this release, except for that it may have been aimed at older teens and young adults. They’re more likely to want to watch a show in one sitting, while many of us older generations are used to the weekly wait.
Could We Were Liars season 2 happen?
Now that the first season has come to an end, there are eyes on the future. Could we get a second season of We Were Liars?
The first season does complete the story by E. Lockhart. Yes, there are a few minor changes to the storyline here and there, but nothing too major to change the ending. We still find out what happened to Cady, and she makes a choice about her future despite her grandfather wanting her to do something very specific.
It would seem like the story is over. We can believe that Cady goes off to live her life, but we know Harris wouldn’t ever allow that to happen. He’ll have something that forces her to come back to Beechwood Island, right?
There’s also the fact that there is a second book in the series, but this is a prequel story. We Were Liars season 2 would have the chance to develop some of that, and the finale of the TV series certainly hints that this is likely. What did Bess do during her Summer Sixteen?
