We got a chance to see what law enforcement is like in Japan in the previous episode of FBI: International. Now we need to see more of the series, but there’s some bad news tonight, Tuesday, May 27.
There isn’t a new episode of the series on tonight. This is going to be followed by terrible news, as CBS made the decision to cancel the series.

Why isn’t a new episode of FBI: International on tonight?
Let’s start with the bad news that we would always expect this time of year. The previous episode was a big one, bringing us a two-parter that took Wes Mitchell to Japan to experience a very different form of law enforcement and rules. If it felt like a big episode, that’s because it was always designed to be. It was the FBI: International season 4 finale.
However, there is some even worse news. This ended up becoming the series finale. So, we don’t just have the summer break to contend with, as there won’t be any more episodes of the series.

Why did CBS cancel FBI: International?
There was an absolutely disappointing reason given for the cancellation of this series. It all came down to finances. The show just didn’t bring in the live ratings that CBS needed as the costs of production went up. It’s always annoying when a show is canceled for financial reasons, as that usually happens at the last minute and leaves us with a lot of questions.
Sure enough, we have questions! The series ended with a lot of cliffhangers for various characters, making it clear that FBI: International didn’t think that it would be canceled. Now we’ll never know who got the GS-14 position and how things would work out for Wes and his sister.

Could FBI: International come back?
Now for more bad news. We shouldn’t expect the series to get saved in any way. To start with, the series wasn’t being shopped around after the cancellation news, which means everyone had given up on it.
If it was to come back, the best home would likely be Prime Video or Peacock. Peacock is the home of another Dick Wolf series, Law & Order: Organized Crime, while Prime Video is great for crime dramas, such as Cross and Reacher. However, it doesn’t look like either of them are interested, especially with the series not being shopped.
FBI: International is available to stream on Paramount+.
