It's May, and you know what that means. Finales are airing, and that means there isn't a new episode of NCIS on CBS tonight, Monday, May 12.

It’s that time of the year in the broadcast schedules. The TV shows are going off for their summer breaks, and right now, we’re focused on NCIS. The series won’t air a new episode tonight, Monday, May 12.

It doesn’t matter how much we prepare for these breaks; we still aren’t quite ready for them. That’s certainly the case with the NCIS season 22 finale, considering we still don’t have some answers, such as what really happened to Parker’s mom the night she died and who Lily is.

The finale left us with more questions than answers, and now we have to wait some time for more episodes. The good news is that there will be more to bring us some answers.

Why isn’t there a new episode of NCIS tonight?

The lack of new episode is linked to the fact that the season 22 finale aired last Monday. So, this week, CBS will bring us a rerun of NCIS instead tonight, Monday, May 12.

We’re heading back to NCIS season 22, episode 12, which saw Kasie under suspicion when one of her friends is poisoned. McGee’s books also came up when the Pentagon decided to pull him in for questioning. It was only a matter of time.

When will NCIS season 23 premiere?

There is some exciting news for NCIS fans in the 2025–2026 TV season. Not only do we know that NCIS season 23 will premiere in the fall, but we also know that it's switching to a much better night.

Let's not lie; this series has performed well up against Monday Night Football, but we all knew it was a difficult move. Plus, even after years of it airing on Mondays, I still think it should be on Tuesdays, and many others do. Well, CBS agrees, as the fall schedule will see NCIS season 23 back on Tuesdays at 8/7c!

We're getting a full NCIS Night on Tuesday nights, starting with NCIS, running into NCIS: Origins, and then ending with NCIS: Sydney. I never expected Sydney to air in the fall, but here we are.

When exactly will the premiere happen? That remains to be seen. CBS usually sets the premiere dates around June or July, so we'll know more then. We're probably looking at late September or the middle of October for most of the fall schedule.
