There isn't a new episode of The Equalizer on tonight, but we know when it's back

It's that time of year when TV shows start to take a break. The Equalizer is the latest one, but we have some good news about the show's return.

We would love to say that we can tune in with Robyn and her team tonight, but there’s some bad news. The Equalizer won’t air a new episode tonight, Sunday, Dec. 15.

This won’t be surprising to those who paid attention to the promotion material for the previous episode. CBS made it clear that the episode would be the winter finale, which meant fans could prepare for the break. Of course, not everyone watches the promotional material, whether they want to avoid spoilers or because they’re not caught up on the series.

Why isn’t The Equalizer on tonight?

The lack of new episode is nothing to worry about. CBS has started its winter break, which means a lot of ohliday programming. This is the time of year when people stop watching linear TV to spend time with family or to go out to events in their local town. It means a hit to the linear ratings, and that puts TV shows at risk of being canceled.

On top of that, the cast and crew take the time off from filming. To make sure the filmed episodes are ahead of the airing episodes, CBS needs to take a break in the TV schedule. This is a good time to do that.

When will The Equalizer return with new episodes?

The good news is there isn’t too long to wait for a new episode of the series. We’ve got around two months to wait.

Rather than bring the show back in January, CBS has opted for Sunday, Feb. 16 as the return date. This makes a lot of sense when you consider how much shows are pre-empted on Sundays throughout January. There are NFL games and awards shows that affect the networks from airing a regular schedule.

Once the Super Bowl is over, CBS can get back to a regular schedule. This means we get a night of drama on Sundays again. The Equalizer is moving to the later time of 10 p.m. ET/PT. This is a tricky timeslot, but if a show has a big enough following to make the timeslot work, it’s The Equalizer.

The Equalizer is available to stream on Paramount+ if you need to catch up on any episodes or you just want to rewatch your favorites.
