The wait is on for new episodes of Will Trent. After all, there isn’t a new episode of the series on tonight, Tuesday, May 20, and we won’t have a new episode for some time.

There isn’t even a rerun of the series on tonight, which is sure to disappoint fans. Instead, ABC has a night of game shows, which looks to be their summer program. If you want to watch Will Trent, you’ll need to turn your attention to Hulu, which is where the show streams.

Why isn’t there a new episode of Will Trent on tonight?

What’s the deal with the break? Well, this isn’t due to scheduling needs per se. It’s linked to the fact that the third season has now come to an end. The Will Trent season 3 finale was certainly packed with surprises and twists and turns, and we had that major cliffhanger ending with multiple lives on the line.

Considering that cliffhanger, it shouldn’t be surprising to hear that it was the finale, then. The good news is we go into this break knowing that there will be a fourth season. We’ll find out if people survive, and we’ll find out how things progress between Will and his newly found father. Caleb shared at the end of the third season that he would like Will to come meet his wife and children, but it’s clear that Will isn’t ready for that yet. After all, the woman he calls his family may not make it through her injuries.

When will new episodes of Will Trent air?

Now for the terrible news. We won’t get any more new episodes of Will Trent in 2025. ABC has revealed its fall schedule, and it came without any new episodes of this crime drama. Like this year, the series will be held for the midseason, along with The Rookie.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. With a midseason start and an 18-episode season, ABC can mostly run episodes back-to-back. There may be one or two weeks off, which happened this year due to politics, but other than that, we’ll get a straight run of episodes. A consistent schedule is great for viewers, so the wait will be worth it.

The question now is when in 2026 can we expect it? We’re looking at some time in January 2026. The third season premiered early 2025, so we can expect around the same time for the fourth season. This will then run the season through to May, wrapping around the same time as this year.
