There won't be any more episodes of The Equalizer in 2024 (when is the show back?)

While we start with bad news about The Equalizer season 5, there is some good news. We have a return date for the second half of the season.

“Slay Ride” – A joyous holiday season turns into a cartel Christmas for McCall, whose romantic life reaches an inflection point when a crime syndicate holds her, Dante and her ex-husband, Miles (Stephen Bishop), captive in a hospital takeover. Also, Harry strives to break his years-long track record of giving Mel awful holiday presents, on the mid-season finale of the CBS Original series THE EQUALIZER, Sunday, Dec. 8 (8:30-9:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on

The Equalizer season 5 winter finale aired on Sunday, Dec. 8. That means the show won’t have any more new episodes in 2024, but there is some good news. We know when the show will return.

That’s right; the most recent episode was the winter finale. CBS made sure people knew this with the promo, but it doesn’t stop people from forgetting or looking out for new episodes. After all, some people wait for a bunch of episodes to binge-watch before they tune in.

It wasn’t a joyous Christmas in the end for Robyn, Dante, and Miles. Lives were on the line in the hospital as a cartel held everyone hostage during the winter finale. We won’t offer spoilers in this post, but a lot went down! It was a worthy episode to wrap up those airing in 2024.

When will The Equalizer season 5 return with new episodes?

The majority of shows will be back in January, but that’s not the case for CBS’s Sunday night dramas. The Equalizer season 5 will return with new episodes on Sunday, Feb. 16.

This delayed return makes sense. We’re looking at a lot happening on Sundays in January 2025. There are NFL Playoff games, award shows, and much more. CBS has tried to bring shows back on Sundays in January before, and it’s just ended up with the shows being pre-empted and the schedule too unpredictable. It’s much easier for CBS to hold off until after Super Bowl weekend.

That’s what it’s doing here. We’ll get The Equalizer back the first Sunday after the Super Bowl.

Sacrifice
“Sacrifice” – The team races to rescue a young hacker, who reminds Harry of his past self, being forced to hack for criminals. Meanwhile, Dante is back in town to visit his father and Mel makes a breakthrough in therapy, on the CBS Original series THE EQUALIZER, Sunday, Nov. 17 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode

There is a time change for The Equalizer

Something to keep in mind is that The Equalizer is moving to a later time. Tracker will continue to take the 8 p.m. ET/PT timeslot, and then we’ll get the new series Watson, which is set to be a mixture of detective and medical drama. After that, new episodes of The Equalizer will air, putting it in the 10 p.m. ET/PT timeslot.

This is a tricky timeslot. A lot of shows have gone here to slowly end up canceled, and we’re hoping that’s not the case for this series. However, there is a lot that goes against the renewal of The Equalizer, including the fact that it’s Sony behind it and the cost of the series is high. This is a series on the bubble that we’re worried about.

The Equalizer will return on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 10/9c on CBS. Catch up on the series on Paramount+.
