10 things we want to see in the Tony/Ziva NCIS spinoff
9. Touch on the time apart after NCIS
It’s been a long time since we saw Tony and Ziva together, and the show should address that. There have to be some underlying tensions from Ziva letting Tony think she was dead and never telling him they had a child for years. There’s also how they’re both older and have to recognize they can’t just jump into action like the old days.
One idea may be flashbacks that show the pair's reunion and other moments. Yet they still have the skills and experience, and like other “sequel” TV shows, the series should address how time has passed to allow the characters to grow more.
8. Not too much on the kid
This may seem a bit harsh, but NCIS has never been its best when talking about family stuff. As much as the idea of Tony and Ziva as parents is intriguing, fans aren’t going to tune in to see the pair dealing with their daughter’s school struggles or such.
If they're on the run, it's logical Tony and Ziva wouldn't be bringing Tali with them anyway and just brief scenes with her. Granted, there is the comedy potential in seeing these tough, hardened agents out of their depth with a teenager, but fans are going to tune in to see the main duo on the job, not for the family aspect.
7. The classic banter from NCIS days
From the start, Tony and Ziva’s banter was a key reason their relationship worked. It’s been far too long since we’ve seen it, and it should have a great degree now that they’re a true couple. They know what buttons to push with each other, and it can be fun for Ziva to put up with Tony’s movie references while Tony deals with Ziva’s bluntness.
We can get the usual jokes and insults, now underlined by their love for each other, and the teasing talks are a reminder of just how wonderful this couple was.
