What happens when a couple of podcasters head to learn the truth about disappearing kids? We get Bodkin on Netflix.
Originally referred to as On Record, Bodkin comes to Netflix on Friday, May 9. It’s a British crime dramedy that follows a couple of podcasters looking to learn the truth. However, it turns out that they didn’t originally think that they were going to even come up with any new information. What happens when a cold case isn’t actually cold?
Let’s take a look at what to expect from the new Netflix series.
What is Bodkin about?
The series follows a group of podcasters who head to an idyllic coastal Irish town. Of course, nothing idyllic is actually idyllic in these shows.
There was once a mysterious disappearance of three strangers from this town, and the podcasters want to get to the bottom of it. Nobody is talking, though—except about horses—and it’s soon clear that the townspeople may have something to do with the disapperances.
The podcasters need to work through the fact and fiction to figure out the case. At the same time, they end up under attack, making it clear that something happened and there is a truth to get out there.
This is more than just a crime thriller, though. It’s a way for us to understand how we justify our own beliefs and validate our own fears.
Who stars in the Netflix series?
Will Forte takes on the role of Gilbert Power. He’s an American podcaster with Irish roots, which he wants to explore. He didn’t initially expect to get anything from this podcast, but it turns out that cold cases aren’t always that cold.
Siobhán Cullen plays Dove, an investigative journalist from Dublin. She has her own opinions about the mysterious disappearances, and she just wants to get to the bottom of the case. She doesn’t like the idea of working on this podcast, though.
