911 made a buzzworthy return for season 8 on ABC and there was so much to look forward to in the episode! One particular storyline we had to discuss was the butting of the heads between Evan Buckley (Oliver Stark) and Captain Vincent Gerrard (Brian Thompson).

Buck has worked as a firefighter under Captain Robert Nash (Peter Krause) for seven years, so he has been dealing with a new captain for three months. However, this particular captain is not only a complete jerk, but never is satisfied with anything the 118 does.

Buck wants to do something about Gerrard in 911 Season 8

Even though the Hen and Chimney can’t do anything because of their connection to Mara and trying to get Hen’s foster care license reinstated, and Eddie knows what it’s like to work under someone Gerrard due to the army, they do try to tell Buck that he needs to avoid letting Gerrard get under his skin.

It’s easier said than done, especially when Buck attempts to make good suggestions during some calls involving millions of killer bees. After an accident involving a truckload of bees, Buck makes good calls that help their victims. But no matter what, Gerrard is never satisfied.

It all comes to a head for Buck when he can’t hold it in anymore and confronts Gerrard. As Gerrard begins berating him over how he has been stepping over his duties, Buck begins to disassociate and tries to calm down. As this happens, a blade from a construction crew comes loose and Buck manages to save Gerrard from being killed, although he does end up injured.

What will happen to Buck next in 911?

How will this shake things up for the 118? Only time will tell how Gerrard will react to what happened with Buck.

Additionally, Buck’s personal life is going better than his professional one! Even though we got a short and sweet scene between him and his boyfriend, Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.), it did set them up as a couple moving forward. Based on their interaction, it's clear they are still enjoying their relationship and we’re excited to see the development of their time together!

All in all, this was a great beginning to the season, although based on the preview for the next episode, we’re in for a wild ride for the second part of the three-part season opener!

911 season 8 airs on Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC. Catch up the following day on Hulu.
