Chicago PD is off for another week tonight, Wednesday, April 24. The good news is that it’s the last week until the May finale.

The series, along with rest of the One Chicago line-up, has been on a break for a while. This is a necessary break for scheduling and filming purposes. NBC will want to air finales in May to get the TV schedule back on track, and Chicago PD needs time to film and post-produce the final episodes.

Breaks are annoying, but they are needed. This is just the way broadcast TV works, and it’s really always worked that way if you take a look back at schedules. This year just feels a little different because of the delayed returns due to the strike action in the summer of 2023.

Upton is on an old case in Chicago PD

We got the promo for the episode a few weeks ago. Chicago PD Season 11, Episode 10 will see a young girl turn up at the precinct. She has run away from home and is looking for help. Her mom is at home, where she isn’t allowed to leave because of the monster.

Who is the monster? That’s something Upton wants to figure out.

It turns out that this is an old case, and it’s one that Petrovic worked on in the past. Upton already has some suspicions about Petrovic. We now know that Petrovic is an alcoholic—a function one, but an alcoholic nonetheless. Upton hasn’t turned her in just yet, but will she do that after this episode?

Is there a chance that Petrovic’s drinking meant that she missed something with this case? Could this be the case that led to Petrovic drinking in the first place? After all, there are some things too horrific for the mind to deal with.

"Upton becomes consumed with a decades-old missing persons case linked to Petrovic after a young child shows up to the district seeking help."

We’re getting closer to Upton leaving Intelligence as Tracy Spiridakos leaves the show. Could this storyline set up Upton’s decision to leave the force? Could it be something too horrific for even her to deal with?
