Christopher Meloni confirms Benson will appear in Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5

If there is one thing we would love to see more of, it’s Bensler. There was a fear that wouldn’t happen as Law & Order: Organized Crime is moving to Peacock for its fifth season.

Worry no more. Christopher Meloni has confirmed at least one Bensler moment is going to happen. Whether it’s exactly what we want, that’s not clear. But something is happening in the new season.

When will Olivia Benson appear in Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5?

We won’t have to wait too long into the season for a Bensler moment, either. Mariska Hargitay will appear in the second episode of the season. It’s not clear whether it is to help out for the whole episode or just to deal with a small situation in one scene, but Hargitay and Meloni will share the screen again.

For years, there has been a will-they-won’t-they dynamic between the two. It all came to an end when Meloni’s Elliot Stabler just suddenly up and left the SVU team, going completely MIA. It wasn’t until Organized Crime began that the two could share some screentime again, and they certainly picked up where they left off in terms of the dynamic.

Over the last four seasons of Organized Crime, we have seen some moments where they almost kissed. It’s a moment fans have been waiting for, and both Meloni and Hargitay are ready to pull the trigger on that on-screen relationship.

Will Bensler happen in Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5?

Meloni refuses to spoil anything for the fans though. He won’t make it clear if we will finally get the moment we’ve always wanted, or if it’s just another tease.

There is always the risk of cancellation. Fans need to see Bensler happen before a potential cancellation, so it has to be this season, right? Meloni did have this to say to PEOPLE, though:

"I'm going to have an opportunity to... I don't know. I'll tell you what. Hopefully, uncover, peel away a little bit more of the onion or uncover a little more depth of feeling between them."

Pairings across the universes can work. We’ve seen FBI and FBI: Most Wanted bring us one with Scolina. Now we need another with Bensler.
