Could a One Chicago crossover happen in 2024?
We have seen many One Chicago crossover events throughout the years. However, in recent years, they’ve not happened that much. It leads to a lot of questions about when those events will happen again.
There have been a few crossover moments. We’ll see Chicago Med characters show up when Chicago Fire characters take people to the hospital, or we’ll see Chicago PD characters in Fire when there’s a fire that needs investigating. Those moments are still likely to happen, but they’re not the events that we’re talking about.
We want to see a big three-episode event. The event kicks off with the Chicago Med episode and then we see Fire tackle their part of it and PD wrap up the case. Alternatively, having something like the skin eating bacteria in the water where all three shows played major roles in all three episodes would work well.
We probably won’t get a One Chicago crossover in 2024
There’s some bad news. It’s unlikely that we’ll see a crossover event in 2024. At least, before May 2024. Of course, there is always a chance that fall 2024 could bring something when the three shows start up new seasons—assuming all three are renewed.
The strike action in the summer may have caused a problem for a crossover event if there was a plan for one. It’s delayed the writing process as well as the production process. While all three shows likely started their writers rooms and then production at the same time, there was a shorter turnaround for episodes.
There is also a shorter season order for all three shows. This makes it more important to keep the focus on the individual storylines and bring us a three-way crossover event the next time we get a full season.
One Chicago kicks off new seasons on Wednesday, Jan. 17 starting at 8/7c on NBC. Catch up on all three shows on Peacock the following day.
