While Criminal Minds has killed off characters in the past, they have not been forgotten. It’s been years since we’ve heard about Agent Gideon, but his character will get a mention in Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2.
Mandy Patinkin left Criminal Minds during Season 3, but he was still fondly remembered. The show murdered his character off-screen when it was clear that Patinkin wouldn’t return. This led to chance for the characters to remember him.
Recent casting gives us a look into how Gideon will be brought up again. Felicity Huffman is joining the series as Gideon’s ex-wife.
What can we expect from Felicity Huffman in Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2?
Huffman will play Dr. Jill Gideon, a skilled biological psychiatrist who has a complicated past with Agent David Rossi, as well as Gideon, according to TVLine. We know very little about why she will be brought into the story, but it’s to help the BAU with a major conspiracy within their case.
Jill doesn’t want to come to help the team at first. Her history with Rossi and Gideon are enough to make her stay on the sidelines. However, she knows that she is the one with the skillset. She is the one who can help save people, and she’s not going to let victims die because she has her own issues to deal with.
Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2 is set to be a little more procedural than the first season. It sounds like it’s going to be more like Season 15, the final season of the main series. This have UnSubs of the week, but it also had a killer who Rossi was obsessed with from start to finish.
Elias Volt will return, but not as the UnSub the team needs to catch. He’s the one with information who can help bring an end to the conspiracy that was set up in the first season of the revival. Is this the same conspiracy Jill will be brought in to figure out?
We didn’t hear too much about Jill Gideon when Patinkin’s character was around. We know that they have a son called Stephen together and that they were estranged due to Gideon’s commitment to the job.
Criminal Minds: Evolutional is available to stream on Paramount+.
