With Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2 coming to an end, all eyes are on the next season. The good news is that Season 3 is happening. The big question now is when?
Paramount+ renewed Criminal Minds: Evolution ahead of the Season 2 premiere. The second season continued the story of Gold Star and Elias Voit. Throughout the first season of the Criminal Minds revival, we watched as Elias Voit gathered serial killers and then had to find a way to outsmart the BAU. While he’s behind bars, he’s still dangerous. He had information about Gold Star, which came up at the end of Season 1.
The BAU spent the second season hunting down the UnSub known as Gold Star. Well, it turned out that the UnSub was actually a program, and the BAU was the main target. All this connected back to when Rossi and Gideon created the BAU. Someone took their white paper, which was a guide on creating serial killers.
Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3 could premiere in 2025
The Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2 finale arrives tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 1. It's sure to pack a punch as it answers the major cliffhangers from the end of the previous episode.
Now we’re looking at how long we’ll need to wait for the answers to questions that come up in the finale. It shouldn’t be too long. This is a series that takes just months to film. It’s the writing and post-production processes that add on a bit of time. It’s not a lot of time, though.
If writing started as soon as the third season renewal came in, we could see filming start before the end of the year. The only reason we had to wait so long for the second season was because of the strike action in the summer of 2023. We don’t have that to contend with.
I’d say fall 2025 is likely for Criminal Minds: Evolution. This would assume filming starts sometime in the early half of 2025. It’s doable. In fact, if filming starts up early 2025, we could see a summer start date. After all, filming of Season 2 started in January 2024, and we got the premiere episode by June!
