There’s been a nice new rise in TV shows based on classic murder mystery setups, from Only Murders in the Building to Poker Face. So it’s no surprise Hulu is going to it again with this series, which had been titled Career Opportunites in Murder and Mayhem.
The new 10-episode series has a great setup, a fantastic cast, and looks set to give TV viewers yet another fun mystery-comedy for the winter season.
What is Death and Other Details about?
Written and executive produced by Mike Weiss and Heidi Cole McAdams, the show is set on a luxuriously restored ocean liner on a Mediterranean cruise. Imogene Scott is among the guests, most wealthy and privileged, with one turning up murdered. Security cameras catch Imogene near the room, making her the prime suspect.
The good news is that on board the ship is Rufus Cotesworth, the world’s greatest detective, who believes Imogene is innocent. The bad news is Imogene hates Rufus for breaking his promise to solve her mother’s murder long ago. Despite that, the pair have to become unlikely partners as they have only 24 hours to solve the crime before Interpol takes over and is likely to arrest Imogene.
But with so many suspects and motives abounding, the pair have to weed through a lot of issues before they can get to the truth.

Who stars in Death and Other Details?
The big star is Mandy Patinkin as Rufus. The Emmy-winning veteran of Chicago Hope, Homeland, and The Princess Bride looks to bring his usual charm to this quirky, arrogant crime-solving genius. Violett Beane plays Imogene, who has to set aside her issues with Rufus to clear her name.
The supporting cast includes former Blue Bloods star Lauren Patten as Imogene’s best friend, Linda Elmond as a cop, and a good supporting cast filling out the various suspects.

When does Death and Other Details premiere?
The series will air its first two episodes on Hulu on Tuesday, Jan. 16. New episodes will then drop each Tuesday, with the final two episodes both airing on March 5.
With a great cast and a fun setup, it looks like Death and Other Details will keep up the crime-solving fun for viewers when it sets sail this winter.
