Sometimes you can just tell when a favorite show is coming to an end. That certainly seems to be the case for 911: Lone Star.

There have been rumors of the show ending since June 2024. Deadline reported the potential end, and fans soon started to worry about it. Would there be enough time to wrap things up for characters.

It didn’t help that the news of the potential cancellation came with the news of a major exit from the series. Sierra McClain is not going to be in the fifth season, and fans are shocked and upset. That means no more Grace, and we all know that Grace was the best character on the entire series!

Cast options came to an end before production on 911: Lone Star Season 5 wrapped

Part of the cancellation rumors came from the way the cast options were coming to an end before 911: Lone Star Season 5 production ended in July. They weren’t going to be extended until after that, and it is possible that the writers and network were getting ready for some of the cast to walk away. This could have substantially changed the show, and it could have led to cancellation.

The only cast member guaranteed to return at that point was Rob Lowe. This is due to his first-look deal with Fox and the fact that he’s an executive producer on the series.

There was no word on what happened after that. It’s not clear if there has been a cancellation or if the cast options were extended in the end. All we know is that a few cast members have mentioned the ending seeming to be near. That includes Rob Lowe, who mentioned it like the “end of an era.” This was more about broadcast TV as a whole, but it sounded like he also viewed it as the end of the Texas-based first responder series.

Our eyes are on what’s to come. We are getting ready for 911: Lone Star to come to an end, purely with everything that is being written about it. However, we would love to see more of the series.

911: Lone Star Season 5 premieres on Monday, Sept. 23 at 8/7c on Fox.
