NBC has officially confirmed the finale date for Chicago PD Season 11. We also get a few details of what to expect in the episode.

That was the date we expected based on the breaks and the way it looked like there wouldn’t be the need for another break in the schedule. This May finale makes it possible for the show to run episodes each week now until we say goodbye to another season.

It looks like this is the episode that sees Upton leave Intelligence. We have known all season that Tracy Spiridakos would leave the show after this season. What wasn’t clear was when it would happen. Would we say goodbye to her during the season, or would it be in the finale?

Well, we have confirmation that Upton will be in the finale. The synopsis tells us that she has to make a “vital decision.”

This season has been focused on her personal growth. She’s stopped playing the victim of her past in a way. For a long time, she reacted to the way people treated her in the past and present, rather than taking ownership of her life and focusing on offering herself better. A talk with Petrovic in rehab brought up that layer of her personality, and it looks like it’s making her think about everything she’s done with her life.

Is it possible that she decides there is more than hunting down serial killers? Will she realize that she fell into a job because of her life circumstances rather than doing it because it was what she believed she should do? What will she decide to do next?

The serial killer case comes to an end

The synopsis for the finale also tells us that we can expect the current season-long case Voight and others have been working on is about to come to an end. Voight needs to outsmart the suspect, which is something he’s failed to do up to this point. The murderer has constantly been one step ahead of Voight, and that’s playing on his mind.

Well, it’s time to close this case. One thing that I have loved about this season-long storyline is that it is realistic. Things don’t get wrapped up in a day. It can take months as a serial killer remains a step ahead at all times. We need more storylines like this moving forward.
