How many episodes are in Will Trent Season 2?

Will Trent, like many other shows, will get a shorter season order this year. Now we know the number of episodes to expect.

The 2023–2024 TV season looks very different to normal. That’s all due to the strikes from the summer. Will Trent, like so many other shows, was delayed to the fall and ended up with a shorter season order than likely originally planned.

The first season of the series got 13 episodes. This was understandable considering the series premiered in the midseason. There isn’t the time to add on more episodes, and it’s just a good way to see how well the show connects with fans.

We had hoped the second season would get the same episode count. 13 episodes has been the plan for a lot of TV shows on broadcast networks this year. That’s not the case for Will Trent Season 2, though.

Will Trent Season 2 will only have 10 episodes

When speaking to TVLine about the chances of Mark-Paul Gosselaar returning, EP Liz Heldens shared that there would only be 10 episodes to the season.

This order came from ABC. It isn’t anything to do with the show’s succeed. Instead, it’s all do to do with filming and release schedules with the strike action. Will Trent Season 2 didn’t premiere until February 2024, whereas the first season premiered in January 2023. With the likely plan to end seasons in May as normal to get the 2024–2025 season back on track.

Why Will Trent will likely be renewed

The good news is we’ll likely see Will Trent renewed for a third season despite this shorter season order. The series has performed well in the linear ratings to the point where it has seen a 23% increase in the demo and a 48% increase in the total audience on average compared to the first season.

On top of that, it is fifth out of all scripted shows in the demo and second out of all scripted shows in the total audience. Moving the show to the 8 p.m. ET/PT timeslot on Tuesdays was the perfect move for this series.
