There’s a new series to check out coming to CBS very soon. Get ready for Justin Hartley to star As Colten Shaw in Tracker.
The series, which premieres straight after the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 11, follows a lone-wolf survivalist. He’s now a bounty hunter of sorts, using his survivalist skills to track down missing people and solve crimes for the reward money. All the while, he has his own fractured family to deal with.
Of course, when there’s a new series that sounds familiar, we look at why that could be. Is this series based on a book? Well yes, but only sort of.
Tracker is based on The Never Game by Jeffrey Deaver
The character of Colter Shaw and his whole backstory is based on that of the character in Jeffrey Deaver’s Colten Shaw novels. The Never Game is the first book, and that’s the one that is the basis for this first season.
However, it looks like the series premiere will include a different mystery for Colter to solve. In the series premiere, he’ll help to figure out where a 14-year-old boy is after he’s potentially been taken by his birth father.
The Never Game sees Shaw hired by the father of a young woman who goes missing in Silicon Valley. She is linked to the video game industry, and she’s not the only one Shaw will need to find. After another goes missing, Shaw needs to figure out the world of twisted video games and eccentric game designers to get to the bottom of the puzzle. This could end up being a great episode at some point in the series.
There is a personal storyline for Shaw throughout the books. This is something that we could see mentioned throughout the first season of the TV series. It’s to do with Shaw’s own father.
Tracker premieres on CBS on Sunday, Feb. 11 straight after the Super Bowl. It then moves to Thursdays at 10/9c and streams on Paramount+ the following day.
