The broadcast networks are setting their premiere dates. NBC has set the date for Law & Order: SVU Season 26 to premiere.
The premiere is a little later than we would like. We’re used to September premiere dates, but the October date may be strategic if the season order is going to be reduced from 22 to around 18 to 20 episodes. At least we have a date.
Law & Order: SVU Season 26 premiere date confirmed
Benson and her team will be back on our screens in October. Get Thursday, Oct. 3 in your diary. Law & Order: SVU Season 26 will premiere in the 9 p.m. ET/PT timeslot, straight after the premiere of Law & Order Season 24.
In some bad news, Organized Crime won’t follow on to end the night. That show is moving to Peacock, with Found taking its place in the lineup. It’s still going to be a night of crime.
It’s hard to say what we can expect in this next season. There is no news of anyone leaving the show at this point, although we did worry about Fin at one point during the previous season. That doesn’t mean there won’t be an exit, but there’s nothing confirmed just yet.
The show remains a procedural series. We see Benson and the team deal with a case each week, usually something that resembles stories we’ll see in headlines. So, without a synopsis, we don’t even know what the team will face.
There may be episodes where we don’t see all our favorite characters, though. When Law & Order: SVU Season 25 was confirmed, it came with the news that the episode count would be a little shorter and only Benson was confirmed for every single episode. A lot of shows are reducing the time for actors on the screen to help reduce costs, and we could see SVU continue with that plan this season.
