Thursday nights are all about the Law & Order shows on NBC. There is some bad news tonight, Thursday, May 23. The three shows won’t air new episodes.

Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, and Law & Order: Organized Crime aired their respective season finales last Thursday, May 16. That does mean bad news for fans, as there is a long wait on our hands. For some fans, there could be a longer wait than others.

Law & Order and SVU are back in the fall

The great news is two of the shows are set for fall returns. That’s not too surprising considering their success on the network. The Law & Order shows remain strong, stable players for the network, only just behind the One Chicago lineup.

We don’t have premiere dates just yet. What we do know is Law & Order Season 24 and Law & Order: SVU Season 26 will air on Thursdays, kicking off a night of crime dramas. Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5 is missing from the lineup, though. Instead, Found’s sophomore season will take that timeslot.

The premiere is likely to happen in late September, which is the norm for fall shows. NBC is sure to hand out dates in late June or in July.

Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5 won’t air on NBC

Now for some bad news. Law & Order: Organized Crime didn’t land an immediate renewal like the other Dick Wolf shows on NBC. The show was eventually renewed for Season 5, but not by NBC. The series will move to Peacock instead, where it does arguably suit better due to the method of and darker storytelling.

It’s not clear when this season will premiere, though. Peacock doesn’t need to follow the same pattern of releases as NBC. We could see the season held for January or even the spring of 2025. The good thing about the Peacock release is that it doesn’t need to be weekly. We could end up with a binge-watch, which would suit the serialized format of storytelling.

For now, watch all three Law & Order shows on Peacock.
