Lucy is about to get jealous again in NCIS: Hawaii Season 3 (but not in the way you think)

Lucy and Kate have been through some ups and downs already in NCIS: Hawaii. Now it's time for another spanner in the works, but not in the way you'd initially think.

When NCIS: Hawaii returns, the focus isn’t just going to be on Jane Tennant getting back in the field. We’ll get to see more of Kate and Lucy together.

Kate and Lucy have shown some excellent growth over the course of the last two seasons. We’ve seen them deal with Lucy be away for a few months and manage the long-distance relationship, and we’ve seen them both deal with jealousy and questions about their potential future.

Now we’ll get to see jealousy again, but this time in a different way. Lucy isn’t jealous of another woman. Instead, she’s jealous of a man.

Kate’s friendship with Kai grows in NCIS: Hawaii

A lot of shows struggle when love interests are brought in. NCIS: Hawaii has shown that as well, even with both Lucy and Kate being main characters on the series. Kate’s real connection to the team is Lucy.

That is changing slowly, and we’ll see more of it in the third season. According to TVLine, Kate’s friendship with Kai will grow, which leads to Lucy being a little bit jealous. Kate and Kai do have some similar interests, so it’s not surprising that they are forming a friendship. They also have similar personalities.

Lucy won’t feel threatened in a romantic sense. Instead, she’ll have to accept that her girlfriend is also friends with her colleagues. It can be hard as relationships blossom and partners want to spend time with friends at the same time. This is going to be a great way to show that couples can have friends as well, which is important to show on the screen.

We do hope for Kate and Lucy to take the next steps in their relationship. Maybe not a proposal, but to see them move in with each other would be great!
