Caution: This post contains major spoilers from My Life Is Murder Season 4, Episode 4
The question Alexa needs to ask is whether Rueben’s friend actually did it or not. What are the chances that he wanted to murder his entitled, stuck-up client? Rueben said that the reason he came out of the line of work being a personal chef was partly due to the clients. They’re rude and obnoxious, and we certainly see that throughout this episode.
However, Rueben is sure that his friend wouldn’t do this. So what really happened?
The cause of death could have been an accident in My Life Is Murder
Harry is honest in saying that the cause of death was poison, but it could have been an accident. The poisonous plant that was put in the victim’s salad can look like asparagus. It’s easy to get that mistaken, but this chef is an accomplished one. Would he really have made that mistake?
That’s what Alexa needs to figure out. She has the help of Rueben and Madison, who go undercover as personal chefs for the family, listening out for any potential secrets they may share.
One of the mysteries is easily solved. You see, Louie, the victim, was found with one of his eyebrows shaved off. That was his girlfriend’s brother who did that. It was a bit of a prank, as a way to get back at Louie for the pranks that he did. Holden didn’t kill Louie, and he didn’t realize that Louie was dead at the time of shaving his eyebrow off.
The plot thickened with other relationships in My Life Is Murder
Well, it turned out that it wasn’t the personal chef. He did make the mistake of serving the poison, mistaking it for asparagus, but that doesn’t make him guilty of murder.
Karin, the girlfriend’s mother, who had previous had a connection to Louie. There were secrets that Karin didn’t want to come out, and the best way of dealing with that was to kill Louie. She wanted to make it look like it was the chef so she would get away with it.
You see, Karin had helped her daughter study about plants as her daughter was failing in her herbology schooling. That meant Karin knew of the plant that looked a little like asparagus. With it being native to New Zealand, she could easily find it and pick it, putting it with all the other ingredients for the salad. The personal chef, Tyler, had no reason to even check the ingredients since he didn’t think they would have been tampered with.
Tyler was able to get away with it considering he simply didn’t know. Karin chose to turn herself in when Alexa went to her with everything she knew. The case was closed, and it looked like Tyler was able to get a job at a coffee shop while he figured out what to do next. He also served a meal to Alexa, Madison, and Rueben for help with the case—and nobody died of poisoning at this one!
