When a Samoan man is killed, Alexa Crowe is called in to help with the investigation in My Life Is Murder Season 4, Episode 6. She ends up proving that people of color do matter to her.

Caution: This post contains spoilers for My Life Is Murder Season 4, Episode 6.

The episode starts with Harry coming to Alexa with another case. As usual, really. Only, this case is a little more sensitive. A Samoan man has been murdered, and the community is naturally guarded. Since when do they matter to the police? Well, they matter to Alexa.

She goes on a mission to figure out the murder, and she learns some of the languages along the way. Reuben is there to help with translations.

Alexa realizes the murderer is closer to home in My Life Is Murder Season 4, Episode 6

There are a few suspects. At first, it looks like a robbery gone wrong, and Alexa and Madison look at people who would want to rob Ropati’s business. That includes the sister of Ropati’s business partner. She says that she was out shopping when the murder took place, but she has no receipt or credit card statement to prove it. Well, she stole shoes, and she was definitely not there.

Was it the rival businesswoman? That comes up as a “dead” end, as well. This woman did want to acquire the business, and she did end up stealing plans off Ropati and didn’t pay the agreed money. There’s fraud and a few other charges there, but it’s not murder.

It turns out the murderer was much closer to home. The business was struggling because Chris had sent money to his sister to get her away from him. He was the one who actually made a deal with Fia, the businesswoman, and sent the plans without getting the money. Ropati found out, and Chris worried that he would be kicked out of the family. Instead of giving it time for the anger to die down, Chris shot Ropati and made it look like a robbery.

He'd put the gun in a tub of oil and put that oil in the fridge. Once the police stopped looking around, he got rid of the gun, but the gun residue was in the oil—and he didn’t think of getting rid of that! He was caught out.

Alexa’s family problems come up in the episode

While all this happened, Alexa focused on avoiding her family issues. She got an invitation to her mother’s wedding two weeks late. Her brother, Will, shows up sharing that he went to the wedding. Alexa doesn’t share why she actually didn’t go, and allows Will to believe it’s because Alexa hasn’t moved on from their dad leaving.

Alexa points out that their first stepdad was a good guy. Their mom just can’t be happy with someone, and she’s sure that there will be a fifth wedding. Yes, that one she missed was the fourth!
