When NCIS: Origins was confimed as a prequel series about Gibbs, we learned that Mark Harmon’s son Sean, who has played a younger version of the character in the past, wouldn’t return. Instead, Young Gibbs would be played by someone else.
Now we know who that is going to be. It couldn’t have been an easy search for an actor to take on this role. After all, Mark Harmon definitely couldn’t return as this is about Gibbs’s life as he joins NCIS for the first time.
Austin Stowell, who was last seen in A Friend of the Family for Peacock, will take on the main role in the NCIS spin-off series, according to TVLine.
Where have you see the NCIS: Origins star before?
Of course, you’ll now want to see Stowell in other shows and movies. You’ll want to get an idea of his looks and his acting skills. After all, the role of Young Gibbs is not going to be an easy one. I get the sense that this is going to be like those coming in as Young Murtagh, Dougal, and Colum in the Outlander prequel series.
His most recent TV role is Peacock’s A Friend of the Family. Stowell played FBI Agent Pete Walsh in the series that is based on real events. So, he certainly has experience in hunting down the bad guys on screen.
He also has a movie career. He has starred in two recent movies with Lucy Hale, The Hating Game and Fantasy Island. You can also see him in Bridge of Spies, 12 Strong, and Dolphin Tale.
Stowell is an actor who has not been typecast into a particular type of role. That makes it exciting to see him really make a mark as Young Gibbs in this new series.
Stay tuned for the latest updates on NCIS: Origins, which will come to Paramount+.
