The fall schedule has been set for some time, and now we get to know when fall begins. It’s a little later than normal for CBS, but it’s good news for those waiting for NCIS: Origins. The NCIS prequel will land a two-episode premiere.
TVLine reports that most of the network’s premieres are going to take place in October. It’s not clear why the network is holding back to this month. NBC and ABC both have September premiere dates, which is the norm for the fall.
There is a chance that the episode counts are shorter than normal. This means spacing out the content better as there will be gaps in the schedule. A later start helps to minimize weeks off later on in the TV season.
NCIS: Origins lands a two-hour premiere
NCIS: Origins will premiere on Monday, Oct. 14. This is the same night that the flagship series will premiere. However, the two shows are airing at a special time.
As NCIS kicks off the night at 8 p.m. ET/PT, NCIS: Origins will kick off its two-hour premiere at 9 p.m. ET/PT. It will run throughout the night, finishing at 11 p.m. ET/PT.
The show will move back to its regular 10 p.m. ET/PT timeslot the following week. This is purely to allow for a two-episode premiere, which will introduce us to the team that Gibbs will work with under Mike Franks.
This is effectively “premiere week” on CBS. The FBIs, Blue Bloods, and more will premiere that week on their respective nights. However, we have to wait longer for the likes of The Equalizer and Tracker to return. Those aren’t coming back until the end of October, which is much later than normal.
There is still animosity toward CBS for canceling NCIS: Hawaii. It will be interesting to see how the boycott takes place in October as Hawaii fans rally together to show that CBS made a terrible mistake.
