12 new crime shows we're most excited about in 2024
The Penguin
If any comic book location is perfect for a TV show, Gotham City is it (just see how long Gotham ran on Fox). Colin Ferrell once more dons a huge makeup job to play Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, aka The Penguin. Taking up immediately where 2022’s The Batman left off, The Penguin explores Gotham recovering from a huge disaster.
Amid this chaos, a new gang war rages, and the Penguin is determined to rise to the top. It’s uncertain if Robert Pattinson’s Caped Crusader will make a cameo, but the idea of seeing other famous Batman foes makes this a compelling new take on this character.
The Penguin is coming to HBO in summer 2024.
High Potential
Originally scheduled for fall 2023, the ABC series, High Potential, has now been pushed to next year. A batch of cops are stymied on a seemingly unstoppable murder case when the precinct cleaning lady (Kaitlin Olson) rearranges the murder board and cracks it in seconds. Realizing she’s a crime-solving savant, they hire her as a consultant.
It looks like another ABC setup of a hardworking single mom mixing with the cops, but Olson’s humor and the mysteries might make it a surprise success for next year.
High Potential premieres on ABC in fall 2024.
