Elsbeth came to New York in the series premiere, and we got to find out why. While this series is procedural in nature, it’s clear that there will be a serialized element to it with Elsbeth’s secret mission.
Now it’s time to see her in action on the next case. Despite the series only just premiering last week, it is already going on a break. There isn’t a new episode of Elsbeth on tonight, Thursday, March 7.
This is certainly bad news. The worst news is that we won’t even get to watch a rerun of the premiere.
Why isn’t Elsbeth on tonight?
You would have thought CBS would want to get the momentum going on this Good Wife spin-off. However, there is something else getting in the way. The State of the Union Address takes place tonight, and that means all the big networks will cover that. CBS will have new episodes of Young Sheldon and Ghosts in the first hour, but then all the focus is on the State of the Union.
When will Elsbeth return with new episodes?
To make it worse, there isn’t even going to be a new episode next Thursday, either. CBS is opting for a lengthy break straight after the premiere. It leads to a lot of questions about why even bother premiering the series in February. Wouldn’t it have been better to wait a little longer?
This is a bad move for the network. Fans haven’t got the momentum of the series yet to accept a break. It could lead to the linear ratings tanking when the series does return. That's not until Thursday, April 4!
The only good thing about the series is that it’s a spin-off of a popular series. Fans were ready to see Elsbeth in action, but is it enough for the linear ratings when the series does eventually return?
Elsbeth’s series premiere is on Paramount+.
