If you waited until after the initial ad breaks at the end of the previous NCIS episode for the promo, you will have noticed something. A promo didn’t air. We know what that means.

There is not a new episode of NCIS Season 21 on tonight, Monday, March 11. There isn’t a new episode of NCIS: Hawaii Season 3 on either. However, the two comedies that lead into the NCISVerse shows are airing new.

So, yes, you will likely be wondering what’s going on. This break is likely two-fold, and both of those reasons are linked to scheduling needs. The show may need a little more time to get through some production and post-production to make sure there are plenty of episodes in the can still. Plus, there are more than 13 weeks between the February premiere date and the likely intended May finale date, which means breaks in the schedule are needed.

When will NCIS return to CBS with new episodes?

CBS hasn’t revealed the schedule at the time of writing this. It is possible that the network needs a couple of weeks of no new episodes, especially as we get into March Madness. However, this isn’t confirmed just yet.

The FBIs went off last week and are taking this week off as well. Elsbeth is off for the whole of March. It’s certainly suggesting that CBS is trying to spread out its content during one of the best months to do so. After all, March isn’t a big month for tracking linear ratings, and if the networks get the breaks out of the way now, after Easter, we can have a good run of new episodes until the finale.

There is a rerun of the series tonight. It’s time to head back to the Season 21 premiere.
