We’re ready for more Blue Bloods. The bad news is we won’t get a new episode tonight, Friday, May 24.
The previous episode was the end of Season 14A. This season has been split in two, and it is still set to be the final season. CBS has not decided to U-turn on the decision just yet, and we’re not happy about that. With the U-turn on SWAT, we’d hoped for the same decision to be made for Blue Bloods as well.
There is some good news, though. There are still eight episodes to come. Now eyes are on when those episodes will air.
Blue Bloods Season 14 returns in fall 2024
CBS will at least make sure this show goes out with the right bang. Blue Bloods will return in the fall, keeping its Friday 10 p.m. ET/PT timeslot until the end. CBS isn’t testing the waters to move the show, making it clear that while we don’t get more, we are being respected with a goodbye season.
There isn’t a set premiere date just yet. All we know is that the series will return in the fall, and that will likely mean either a late September or an early October start date. The good news is that with eight episodes, we should get all episodes running back to back. While it will be sad to say goodbye to the series in 2024, at least we don’t have to wait weeks for just one or two episodes for that goodbye.
What are the chances of a U-turn? They seem slimmer and slimmer, especially with the disappointing decision to cancel NCIS: Hawaii. If that show couldn’t get a shortened final season despite being strong in the linear numbers, then there’s little chance CBS will U-turn on Blue Bloods. However, the cast is still fighting, making it clear that all CBS has to say is there’s a change of heart.
