Only Murders in the Building brings back a major guest star for Season 4
Only Murders in the Building is getting set for Season 4, and thankfully, one of Season 3's biggest guest stars is coming back for the new year! Find out who is here!
Only Murders in the Building has always excelled at a great guest star cast. They include Jane Lynch, Nathan Lane, and Matthew Broderick and Mel Brooks playing themselves. But Season 3 brought the biggest one of the bunch.
Landing Meryl Streep was a huge coup for the series. The three-time Oscar winner and most nominated performer in Academy Awards history played Loretta Durkin, a long-struggling actress cast in Oliver's (Martin Short) new play. It wasn't long before the two got into an affair.
There were concerns over Loretta being the one who murdered Ben Gilroy (Paul Rudd) but turned out to be innocent. The season ended with Loretta heading to Los Angeles to film a TV show, and Oliver tempted to join her.
With the confirmation Season 4 takes place in LA, there was the question if Streep's busy schedule would allow her to return. We now have an answer.
Who is joining Meryl Streep in Only Murders in the Building Season 4?
Variety confirmed that Streep is coming back for Season 4. So far, plot details are under wraps, but it seems Oliver, Charles, and Mabel are in LA investigating a new murder with Loretta getting involved.
The show is also adding Saturday Night Live veteran Molly Shannon as "a high-powered Los Angeles businesswoman." It's likely more big names will be coming soon, along with a few returning characters.
Keeping Loretta makes sense given her relationship with Oliver and Streep was a highlight of Season 3. Seeing the legendary actress play into her comedy chops will be great, and becoming part of the trio investigating the crimes should spark Season 4 up more.
So be assured there will be more Loretta in Only Murders in the Building Season 4 to keep up another great year for the show.
Only Murders in the Building is available to stream on Hulu.
