A lot changed at the end of Snowpiercer Season 3. We said goodbye to characters, and we saw people choose their sides.

In the runup to the finale, we lost a major player for the Tailies. Pike, who was sometimes friend but often foe to Layton, was killed off. He and Layton had to go through the old tradition of the Tailies to fight to the death, which almost killed both of them.

With Layton surviving, it was time to put the focus back on bigger issues for the train. Melanie was back and decided that New Eden wasn’t worth the risk, and Wilford was banished from the train completely.

Snowpiercer splits in two in the Season 3 finale

Melanie braced for a war after the decision not to go to New Eden. People were not happy. They wanted the chance to see if the Earth was liveable again. They were done being on the train that never stopped. Layton was willing to lead those people, and so, we ended up with Melanie and Layton finding a compromise.

They would allow people to choose. Those who wanted to head to New Eden would go with Layton on Big Alice. Those who didn’t want to take that risk would follow Melanie on Snowpiercer.

The main players to choose Layton were:

Josie Wellstead
Zarah Ferami
Liana (Zarah and Layton’s daughter)
Ruth Wardell
Javier De La Torre
Roche and his daughter, Carly
John Osweiller
Dr. Headwood
Icy Boki
Alex Cavill

It looked like Till and Ben would head out with Layton at first. In the end, Ben chose Melanie and Till chose Audrey.

The main players who choose Melanie were:

Bennett Knox
Miss Audrey
Bess Till
Miles
Dr. Pelton
Gilles
Tristan

What happened to Wilford in Snowpiercer Season 3?

Wilford was a huge threat to the people of the train. The narcissist just wanted people to love him, and those who didn’t were punished.

Both Melanie and Layton knew that Wilford would never allow the trains to be divided, and he wouldn’t allow either side to flourish. His need for his comforts would lead to a drain on the whole train. They worked together to take down Wilford, and they were able to banish him with the service train and Drawer suspension drugs that Melanie used to survive the time she needed to get back to the train after Wilford previously left her in the wind.

It looks like Wilford survives and he’ll find his way back to the train. Now we just need to find out how.

Who died in the Snowpiercer Season 3 finale?

During the season, Roche and his whole family were put in Drawers. While Roche and his daughter survived, his wife perished in there. It was a devastating moment for Roche, and it looked like he would drink himself to death rather than look after his grieving daughter. Fortunately, he was able to pull through with the support of others.

In the Season 3 finale, there had to be a casualty. That casualty was LJ Folger, who accidentally choked on her late father’s fake eyeball.

LJ had decided to remain on Snowpiercer in an attempt to take power back from Melanie and get Wilford back. However, her death means that there are no real villains on the train anymore. After all, Miss Aubrey had a great redemption arc on the train.

What was the missile at the end of the finale?

Layton’s gamble paid off and they all found that New Eden could sustain life. As for Snowpiercer, the people there are looking for resources to help the train’s life be extended. The finale picked up three months after the split, with Melanie watching as a missile was launched in the distance.

Who was that missile from? Was it from Layton, or was it from the people we see in the Season 4 trailer? It looks like there were other survivors out there.
