It is bad news for So Help Me Todd fans. After the fear from Deadline that the series would end up canceled, CBS has officially made that decision.

The news came in late in the day on Friday, April 19. It led to a disappointing weekend for a lot of fans. We know that So Help Me Todd’s second season finale is going to end on a cliffhanger, and that will now be the series finale.

Why has CBS canceled So Help Me Todd?

The decision comes down to viewing figures and the cost of the series. While the series performs better than a lot of shows on other broadcast networks, it’s not a strong performer in same-day ratings on CBS. Deadline reports that the viewing figures puts it in 22nd place across the non-sports programming on broadcast.

While it has a loyal following, it doesn’t have a big one. To be able to justify the costs for developing a show, CBS needs to see the viewing figures. While new shows are a higher risk financially, they could end up performing better. And we know there are a fair few new shows lined up on CBS in the 2024–2025 season.

Could Paramount+ save So Help Me Todd?

Eyes are on whether the show could be shopped around. It doesn’t sound like that is going to happen. There are no plans for So Help Me Todd to be picked up by Paramount+ to continue the story.

What about another streaming platform? This is a little trickier, and it will depend on the international numbers. We have to remember that the likes of Netflix and Amazon are international streamers. If there hasn’t been an international audience that is loyal to the series, there is less chance that it will be saved.

Then it would take fans and the creators to push for the series to be saved.

The decision came at the same time as CSI: Vegas being canceled. If there was going to be a series saved by a streamer, it would likely be CSI: Vegas, which already has the franchise following.

So Help Me Todd airs Thursdays at 9/8c on CBS.
