SWAT Season 8 is adding to its cast. That’s not surprising considering it’s lost some series regulars. One of the new recurring guests is a Chicago Fire vet.

The eighth season wasn’t originally intended to happen. When the seventh season was finally confirmed, it came with the news that it would be the final season. And that’s the way it was written. Sort of. The ending did allow for an eighth season, which was possible when CBS U-turned on the “final season” decision.

However, Season 7 did see the loss of two team members. Fans still aren’t happy about the losses, but they appear to be permanent. Hondo has to add new team members, and it looks like we have two.

Annie Ilonzeh is joining SWAT Season 8

TVLine reports that Annie Ilonzeh will join the series in a recurring role. She will play the role of Devin Gamble and will take the second spot on Hondo’s team.

One Chicago fans know her as Emily Foster, a paramedic at Firehouse 51. At the end of the abruptly shortened eighth season, Foster learned that she was accepted into med school. She decided to go for that, leaving Firehouse 51 behind.

Niko Pepaj upped to series regular for SWAT Season 8

As well as Ilonzeh joining the series, SWAT Season 8 has upped Niko Pepaj to a series regular. Pepaj joined in Season 7 as Alfaro, a new recruit who ended up proving himself in the Season 7 finale. Tan had a lot of questions about the new recruit up to that point, though.

This isn’t that surprising. When Hondo was told by Hicks that he had full power in choosing the new team members, he looked over to Alfaro. It was clear then that he wanted this man to be a part of the new family.
