We are more than ready to see a new episode of SWAT tonight, Friday, March 29. Sadly, that is not going to happen, though.

The series remains on a break. This is due to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship, which continues to take up airtime on CBS. It’s the standard March break for this, but the break is almost over.

It’s also Good Friday tonight. Even if it wasn’t for March Madness, there is a chance that CBS would have opted for a break. The long weekend sees a lot of people heading out, so CBS may have worried about a dip to the linear ratings.

When will SWAT return with new episodes?

The good news is the wait for new episodes is nearly over. SWAT returns on Friday, April 5. That is next weekend. Look out tonight for a trailer for the new episode.

This is going to be a big episode, though. We know that based on the way the previous episode ended. Luca was shot in the street in front of his daughter. She managed to get to him at the end, but he didn’t wake up to her screams.

He’s likely still alive at this point. We’ll likely see the April 5 episode focus on his fight for his life. There may even be some time to look back on his career with SWAT. This is Kenny Johnson’s last episode of the series, but it’s not clear yet if we’re saying goodbye because he retires or because he is killed off. We’re certainly hoping for the former, giving him a chance to make a cameo in the series finale.

The promo will also see Deacon, who made the decision to retire at the end of the previous episode to be able to put Annie’s career first. However, it doesn’t look like retiring is going to be all that simple.
