Alec Mercer loves to delve into the minds of people. He knows that behavior is rationally irrational, and that certainly seems the case in The Irrational Season 1, Episode 9.
While there isn’t a synopsis at the time of writing this, we do have a promo. That promo gives us a look at the case of the week, which involves someone potentially killed on live stream.
Why would someone do such a thing? The whole world could watch the murder happen. Is that what the killer wanted? Or is there something much bigger at play?
The Irrational Season 1, Episode 9 promo
Take a look at the promo below, and then we’ll get into some theories:
Is it possible that this isn’t quite a murder. Could it be a suicide that is planned to look like a murder? After all, if it looks like someone has died at the hands of someone else on a live stream, there will be a lot of armchair detectives thinking they have it solved. Trying to deal with the online pressure could be difficult for the police.
The good news is they have Alec to help. The idea of killing someone live in front of the whole world seems irrational.
But then, we have to consider the title. The episode is called “Cheating Life.” Is it possible that there’s a man or woman scorned out there? That could lead to some irrational behavior. Jealousy and anger can make people do some crazy things. That seems a little too obvious and trope-ish to be honest. The show has managed to avoid some of the biggest tropes up to this point, so let’s not get into one of them here.
We’re sure to see more in the bombing story as well. Jace has a theory and Marisa is willing to see it out. Was it a politician who orchestrated the bombing after all?
The Irrational airs Mondays at 10/9c on NBC. Catch up the following day on Peacock.
