The Last Thing He Told Me renewed for Season 2: Is there a second book?

There is some exciting news for fans of The Last Thing He Told Me. The series has just been renewed by Apple for a second season. We have the details.

This series is based on the Laura Dave novel of the same name. Naturally, that leads to a lot of questions. After all, the novel was a standalone book, and that meant the series was originally billed as a limited series. The story seemed to come to a close, as well.

So, what’s going on with this renewal? Is the story going ahead of the books, or will there be a second book in the series?

According to Deadline, the novel is also getting a sequel. Dave’s book is set to be published in 2025, and it looks like this is the inspiration for the second season of the TV series. Dave is working with the TV show’s creative team, which means she’ll be able to share details of Hannah and Bailey’s story after the events of the first book.

The good news is the book will come out before the second season of the series does. That’s something fans of the source material will want. It means The Last Thing He Told Me Season 2 will likely come to Apple TV+ toward the end of 2025 or in 2026.

Jennifer Garner, who is also an EP on the series, will return as Hannah Hall. It sounds like Angourie Rice should return as well, as the book will continue Bailey’s story as well. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and David Morse are also set to reprise their roles from the first season.

There is a small change to the creative team. Aaron Zelman will join the series as co-showrunner and EP for Season 2. Josh Singer remains as showrunner. He is married to Dave, and this is the first project the two have collaborated on together.
