If there’s one thing that The Rookie fans want to see, it’s Chenford back together. There is some hope now that ABC has given the series the renewal that it needed.
After years of waiting patiently for Tim and Lucy to get together, Chenford finally happened. And then, just as quickly as it happened, it’s come to an end. Tim’s past came back to haunt him, and he ended up lying to Lucy. Then he used the fact that he lied as a reason to break up with her.
We know Tim thinks that he is doing the right thing to protect Lucy. However, fans are angry that this has happened. At least the renewal means that the writers can make this right.
The Rookie Season 7 is officially happening
TVLine reported the good news that ABC has renewed The Rookie for Season 7. This was a show I was worried about, but that mostly came down to the way the linear ratings had dropped a little from the previous season along with it not landing an early renewal as three other shows, including Will Trent, were renewed. ABC isn’t as worried, and the series gets to keep going.
The show itself is still a strong performer on the network. It is third in the audience behind 911 and Will Trent and it is third in the demo behind 911 and Grey’s Anatomy. There shouldn’t have been a reason to worry, but broadcast networks have been making some surprising decisions in recent years.
Eric Winter did share some hope for Chenford when talking about the Season 6 finale. The finale is going to be big, and there is a Chenford moment coming up. Tim and Lucy get a chance to talk, and this leaves things open for more talking in Season 7. Now we just want to see them get back together.
The Rookie airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on ABC.
