TikTok has boosted the call for Orange Is the New Black Season 8

When Netflix first started out, there were two shows that arguably drove the interest in the streamer. Orange Is the New Black was one of them, and now fans want to see more.

The prison drama followed the memoirs of Piper Kerman. This was more than just a story of one woman navigating prison life, though. It was a story of multiple women. We got to see why they were there, what they wanted to achieve after prison, and how prison changed them for good or bad.

Netflix made it clear that Season 7 was the last. The streamer has never said that it would bring the show back, and the final season was pretty final. That’s not stopped a surge of interest in the series thanks to TikTok.

Could Netflix bring us Orange in the New Black Season 8?

There was a rumor earlier this month that Orange Is the New Black was coming back for an eighth season. This was just a rumor, though. It all started because fans want to see more, especially as they watch scenes from the series on TikTok.

By the way, this isn’t the only show to get a new following thanks to TikTok. The Vampire Dairies, Pretty Little Liars, and Supernatural. TikTok has been a great way to highlight some of the emotional or funny scenes of shows to get people talking.

Even if Netflix wanted to bring the show back, it wouldn’t be with the same creative team. Showrunner and creator Jenji Kohan is not interested in creating another season. She is done with darkness in shows, and she wants to create something lighter. That wouldn’t be possible for the continuation of the show.

A lot of the characters that fans came to know and love weren’t even part of the show by the end. The actors of those that were still around have moved onto other projects, which would make it difficult to bring them back. And quite honestly, that final season was written as a finale season. We don’t really need more.

So, no. As of right now, there isn’t going to be Orange Is the New Black Season 8. However, all seven seasons are on Netflix for new and old fans to enjoy. TikTok just shows the beauty that social media can do for movies and TV shows.
