Is there trouble for Jimmy and Jessica in NCIS?
Things didn’t look great for Jimmy Palmer and Jessica Knight for a little bit in NCIS. As Knight’s father came into town and helped on a case, we found out that he has a specific idea for his daughter when it comes to her life.
During the March 25 episodes, Knight’s father was involved in the case. However, he stepped back and allowed his daughter to take the lead on the case, giving him a chance to see his daughter at work.
At first, Jimmy introduced himself expecting Knight’s father to know who he was. He was a little disappointed to find out Knight hadn’t said anything about him. It turns out that wasn’t really the case and it was more due to Knight’s father’s plan that made him overlook Jimmy’s potential as a partner.
Knight has always had a “plan” in NCIS
It turned out that Knight was on a specific plan. So was her sister. These plans were crafted with the help of her father, and for Knight, it meant a rise to the top of the chain of command. One day, the plan was for her to become Director of NCIS.
One of the best moments was Knight telling Jimmy this in the elevator. He didn’t laugh at the idea of the plan. He knew full well that she was capable of this. He can see how determined she is.
Knight had a moment of honesty with Jimmy. She shared that losing her team, which was the lead-up to Knight replacing Bishop, derailed her plan. It also turns out that she’s pretty happy with where she is now, and she’s very happy with Jimmy. While Knight’s dad may not be all that happy that she’s dating a single dad right now, this is Knight’s life and she gets to choose who she is with.
She chooses Jimmy Palmer.
Knight and Palmer seem to be on track
By the end of the episode, Knight convinced her dad to have breakfast with Palmer. This was a moment for him to show that he accepts Knight’s change of plan.
This is a look at Asian-American culture. There are a lot of Asian elements brought over, and that includes striving to be the best and having a specific plan from a young age. These plans are usually developed by parents, and many children fear disappointing their parents by going against the plan.
However, Knight shows that she wants something different for her life. She has the courage to stand up to her dad and tell him that the initial plan isn’t for her anymore. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to be Director of NCIS in the future, but for now she’s happy. She wants to be with Palmer, and she knows that he is a good guy.
And he is. This is a man who encourages Knight to reach for the stars. They support each other, and they really are the #couplegoals of crime dramas.
NCIS airs Mondays at 9/8c on CBS.
