Vera ending with Season 14: How many episodes will be in the final season?

Something that will definitely be a shock to many is hearing that ITV is cancelling Vera after 14 brilliant seasons. It’s the end of an era.

The British series is based on Ann Cleeves’s book series that follows Detective Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope. She spends her time working out various mysteries, and the series has adapted a number of the novels so far over the course of 13 seasons.

The series has had some brilliant guest stars at the same time. Some of them include Cust Jumbo, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Wunmi Mosaku.

How many episodes are in Vera Season 14?

The worst of the news is likely that the last season is going to be extremely short. We will only have two episodes. However, it’s worth noting that the episodes will be two hours each, so it will feel more like four episodes of the series.

They will arrive sometime later this year on ITV. In North America, the series is on BritBox, and that’s where the two episodes will head. There is no say on when that will happen.

Why is Vera canceled?

There is no comment from ITV to say why the series has been canceled, according to TVLine. Based on comments from lead actress Brenda Blethyn and show’s EP Kate Bartlett, it doesn’t look like this was a series decision. It’s not like there aren’t plenty of Cleeves novels to adapt.

It would suggest that it’s a financial decision. Despite the international appeal from BritBox, there may not have been enough viewers on ITV in the UK to keep the series going. The world of TV is going through a lot of change across the world, as productions become more expensive but live viewership takes a fall.
