What happened to Hightown on Starz and where can you watch it now?

Another disappearing series from a streaming platform reminds us why DVDs remain king. Hightown is no longer on Starz, and here's where you can watch it now.

After three seasons, Hightown came to an end in March 2024. With it being a Starz original, you would think that it would be available to binge-watch whenever you want. That sadly isn’t the case.

Just weeks after the series aired its series finale, Starz removed Hightown from the streaming platform. This was done without any warning, and much to the disappointment of fans.

It’s another case of an original series being removed from a streaming platform. Max was the worst for it a few years back, but we’ve seen Paramount+ and Disney+ also do this. It reminds us of the importance of DVDs, while also being a stark reminder for creators that this can happen and those streaming contracts aren’t always that great.

Where to watch Hightown now

Does that mean the series has gone to another streaming platform? TVLine looked into this. Unfortunately, the crime series is not available to stream on another platform just yet. That doesn’t mean it will ever head to another streaming platform.

What are your options to watch the show then? You’ll need to buy the episodes on Digital. This means heading to Amazon Instant Video, iTunes, Google Play, and wherever you get your shows on Digital.

Could Hightown head to another streamer?

This isn’t the first time Starz has done this. Heels was the victim of being canceled and abruptly removed from the streaming platform last year. That show is coming to Netflix in September. Both seasons will be available to stream. It looks like Starz is open to licensing its content elsewhere, and we could see Hightown make that sort of move.

This could end up being a good thing for the series. We all know that more eyeballs are on Netflix rather than Starz. While it probably won’t mean the show being saved from cancellation, at least the creators are getting paid.
